Family

Today I had Christmas with extended family. I went in with low expectations but it was quite enjoyable. Life seems to turn out better when you go in with low expectations I think. Anyways, we exchanged gifts and I got I Am Legend from my uncle, on blu-ray! I'm glad I didn't get a DVD but unfortunately I already own it on DVD. I haven't watched this movie since like last year. It's not a movie I anticipate watching anytime soon either, luckily there's a handy gift receipt attached to the back. I think Funny People is on sale for $20, so I'll pick that up with the money I get from returning I Am Legend. If not, I'll probably just save it for Moon or The Hurt Locker next month.

This film impressed me on so many levels. Definitely the best British film I've seen this year. The film alternates between his downfall at Leeds and his rising at Darby. It gives an interesting take seeing a man who is fueled by obsession rise against the odds but only for it to ruin him. The acting in this movie is very good with Michael Sheen putting on the best performance and definitely one of the best I've seen this year. Jim Broadbent and Timothy Spall also give great ones as well. Another thing I really really enjoyed about this movie is the cinematography, some of the shots were just really stellar.

I highly recommend this movie, I'm not even a big soccer fan and admit to know very little about the sport. One of the best films this year.
